A woman accused of baiting and killing almost 100 birds of prey near Violet Town will face court at the end of the year in a three-week hearing.

Dorothy Sloan, 82, of Violet Town is facing 342 charges in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court.

They include eight charges of aggravated cruelty, 97 of killing wildlife by poison and 208 of possessing protected wildlife.

She also faces 25 charges of possessing wildlife taken from the wild.

Ms Sloan’s matter was mentioned briefly in court on Thursday, March 16, where dates were set for a three-week hearing in December.

Magistrate Marita Altman also set an earlier special mention date mid-year to ensure that everything was ready for the hearing well in advance.
