The Shepparton Textile Artists Inc. will be hosting a workshop at The Foundry in conjunction with their exhibition Chrysalis which is currently on show.
The ‘A school of birds, a flock of fish’ workshop will allow attendees to create colourful birds and fish using a range of different textile techniques.
The workshop will also look at different ways of using text in art, creating convincing creatures from random shapes and exploring ways to use materials such as papers and fabrics.
STA committee member Judith Roberts, who will be leading the workshop, said that she hopes people enjoy the workshop.
“The most important thing for me is that people have fun on the day and that whatever they've created will remind them of a good day they've had creating art,” she said.
“There's nothing quite like being together with a group of like-minded people who are exploring something that's inherently interesting and having a good time.”
The STA was first formed in 2003 and has since held an exhibition every year except 2013.
This year the group have chosen to host their annual exhibition at The Foundry.
The Chrysalis exhibition focuses on the theme of transformation from one state to another.
Artworks were created using techniques such as felting, eco-dyeing, slow stitching, basketry, crocheting, cord-making, beading, collage and more.
The exhibition opened on Friday, November 1 and will close on Sunday, December 1.
The workshop will be held early next year.
Entry to the event will cost $70 for Foundry members and $75 for non-members which will cover all equipment and materials needed.
