Local artists have come out of the woodwork for the Rochester Rotary Club’s Creative Seeds exhibition.
Running from Sunday, March 30 until Saturday, April 5, the exhibit showcases work from the talented Rochy community at the Heritage Courthouse.
The 2025 event is the sixth edition of the initiative, which runs concurrently with the Rochester Mural Festival across the road.
For two of the organisers, Annie Wills and Heather Watson, the exhibition presents the opportunity for creatives of all experience levels to see their work on display.
“I love the quote, ‘if you believe you’re an artist, you are an artist’,” Mrs Wills said.
“The talent’s there, and we need people to see that talent.”
Lining up the exhibit with the mural festival turns the town into an arts hub during late-March to early-April each year.
The Rotarians will have Devonshire tea on offer at the exhibition, ready to be enjoyed in the gardens around the courthouse.
Mediums include textile art from Sonya Else; paintings from Greta Zegelin and previous mural festival People’s Choice award winner Maryann Jenkins; ceramics and sculptures.
Rochester Secondary College students have also submitted works for display.
Workshops are scheduled for the week, including pebble art with Annie today at 1pm; coloured pencil and dry pastel drawings with Shaz on Thursday, April 3 at 2pm; and Bee Macrame with Bee on Friday, April 4 at 5pm.
A ‘Brushes and Bubbles’ evening is also set for tomorrow, Wednesday, April 2 at 6pm, with the theme “paint your fur baby”.
