The crime statistics agency has released its 2022 figures.
Both Strathbogie and Mitchell shires continue to sit below the criminal incident rate of Victoria per 100,000 population after COVID-19 lockdowns.
The home continues to be the most common location for criminal incidents to occur, with breaches of family violence orders being the top offence sub-group across both shires.
Strathbogie Shire’s criminal incident rate dropped 17.7 per cent from the previous 12 months.
Breaches of family violence orders, other theft and criminal damage have all decreased in Strathbogie Shire, however theft from a motor vehicle and sexual offences increased.
The Mitchell Shire criminal incident rate had a marginal 0.4 per cent increase overall on the previous year.
Breaches of family violence orders, other theft and residential non-aggravated burglary all increased in Mitchell Shire, while criminal damage and common assault decreased.
Avenel is the only town in Strathbogie Shire to have an increase in total criminal incidents. Euroa, Nagambie and Violet Town all saw decreases.
Seymour and Wallan had increased criminal incidents in the 12 months to December 31, but Broadford, Kilmore and Beveridge incidents decreased.
