The Echuca-Murray CWA held its first ever pop-up shop on Thursday, November 28.

The pop-up shop featured homemade preserves and other food, and crafts such as knitted goods, toys and Christmas decorations.

Shoppers were able to take their pick from good-quality handmade items priced between $2 and $20.

CWA member Delia Currie said the pop-up shop was a huge success.

“For the first one ever, it was excellent — and it was lovely to see members of the community out,” she said.

“We were up early making scones, we set up the night before and all members made a whole range of goods to sell.

“This place was so full for an hour and a half, strangers had to share tables to eat their scones and tea.”

There were eager shoppers waiting at the CWA before the pop-up shop opened its doors at 10.30am.

Customers continued to flow through as the day went on, with many stopping by to enjoy a Devonshire tea with friends and some even meeting friends they hadn’t seen in a while by chance.

A total of 12 local businesses also pre-ordered scones to be collected on the day.

The baked goods, jams and preserves were the most popular items among buyers and were almost sold out by the end of the event.

The event raised over $1000, which will go back into the community through groups that the CWA supports.

After great success with its first pop-up shop, the group is keen to host another in the new year.
