Dan Murphy’s Echuca has recently topped a nationwide charity drive, raising the most funds out of any ‘Dan’s’ store across Australia for mental health and wellbeing.

The Echuca store raised more than $4000 for GIVIT, a not-for-profit organisation that arranges for items and funds to be passed on to people in need.

Duty manager Miranda Lammers thanked the Echuca Moama community for helping to support a worthy cause.

“Mental health and wellbeing I think affects everyone in one way or another; you either know somebody or you have maybe dealt with it yourself,” she said.

“I think it has touched everybody, and the Echuca Moama community was so, so generous.

“They really just opened up their wallets and were more than happy to hand over money, which really was outstanding. It was so generous, and we cannot thank them enough.”

The fundraiser is the third that Dan Murphy’s has driven this year, with another still to come this festive season.

“At the beginning of the year, there were (fundraisers for) domestic violence and homelessness in winter, and (another for) people in need at Christmas,” store manager Victoria Zahra-Territo said.

“When that fundraiser comes about, then ‘Dan’s’ asks the stores and the teams to get behind it, and that’s what we did.

“This was a nationwide Dan Murphy’s effort, and we were just proud enough to be number one. That’s how much the community chipped in and helped.”
