A report will be prepared for the coroner after a South Australian tourist was found dead in a spa at Rich River Golf Club on Thursday night.

Matt Foreman, 45, was a father of four from the Mount Gambier region.

Emergency services were called out to reports of a drowning at Twenty Four Lane, at 7pm on Thursday, August 11.

Police had been told a group of friends were spending time in the spa together and had decided to disperse, when Mr Foreman opted to stay behind.

It was later in the evening that Mr Foreman was discovered face down and unresponsive by a guest at the motel.

The guest performed CPR until paramedics arrived on the scene.

Paramedics were not able to revive Mr Foreman and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Foreman was in Echuca Moama on a golfing holiday.

His younger sister Dani described Mr Foreman as ‘’funny and loved by all’’.

Inspector Paul Huggett of the Murray River Police District said the exact cause of death is yet to be determined, but Mr Foreman’s death is “not being treated as suspicious.”
