Deniliquin sheep sale report:

There was a smaller lamb yarding of plainer quality at Deniliquin on Tuesday, as the last of the unshorn drafts are sold.

Shorn lambs did not have much weight and condition.

Any reasonably presented heavier and trade lambs were dearer, but overall results were tempered by a lot of little and mixed pen lots.

Unshorn lambs sold to $228 for a small lot of 11 head, while shorn lambs also reached $228 on less weight.

The pick of the processing lambs made above 800c, with some pens reaching in to the high 800c/kg price range.

The general run of trade lambs sold from $160 to $195/head.

Mixed and light lambs had varied results depending on quality and number in a pen.

Most reasonable light crossbred lambs were $112 to $148/head.

Some pens of small unshorn Merino lambs sold from $21 to $38/head.

The sheep run included some handy lines of shorn Merino ewes, but there were few heavy types and crossbreds.

Carcase price rates for the main runs of trade mutton were dearer than a fortnight ago.

Most sheep made from $60 to $110/head, with some small pens of extra heavy meat ewes to $120/head.

With a total yarding of 5217 head, the total sales were $576,821. The average price on the day was $110.56.
