Save the date: Join the festivities at Tatura’s first market on May 4.

From local goods to unique finds, a new tradition begins.

Following a February meeting between Tatura business owners and Greater Shepparton City Council staff, the first-ever Tatura market will be held at Stuart Mock Place on Saturday, May 4.

The market will coincide with Tatura’s annual monster garage sale, showcasing the town in a new light.

“We are excited to unveil the Tatura market as a new highlight for both our community and visitors,’’ City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said.

The market aims to showcase the region’s finest, featuring local produce, artisan goods, handmade jewellery, homewares and distinctive items.

Located in the heart of Tatura, the event is set to attract about 20 stallholders, with council accepting applications until April 19.

“Events like this are a great opportunity for the community, providing a perfect platform for small businesses to thrive and for locals to connect,” Cr Sali said.

The day will include a variety of entertainment suitable for all age groups, including storytelling, wildlife exploration, an Australian petting zoo and a visit from Tatura firefighters with their fire truck.

Shops along Hogan St will welcome visitors, with a range of food and drinks available, and local musicians will grace the market with music.

“We are thrilled to bring the Tatura market to life,’’ council’s place manager Bonnie McIntosh said.

‘’It is an opportunity for our community to come together, support local businesses and witness the vibrant spirit of Tatura.

“We have worked closely with local vendors to ensure the market has a diverse range of offerings for everyone to enjoy.’’
