Doing it for the kids

The cost of living crisis can be a major challenge for families who are trying to provide the best for their children.

This is particularly true when it comes to back to school season, where the cost of essentials can add up quickly.

That’s why the Deniliquin Community Hub has started a new initiative to help those in need.

The community hub volunteers are collecting school-related items such as uniforms, school bags, lunch boxes and other school items that are still in good condition.

These items will be made available to anyone who needs them, regardless of their situation.

Deniliquin Community Hub head coordinator Sheridan Clark said anyone is welcome to donate, or to apply for assistance.

“Whether you need a whole uniform or just a shirt, the Community Hub will do what it can to help,” she said.

“We’ve had a few donations so far, including a fully stocked back pack filled with brand new stationary and other school essentials for one lucky child to receive.

“It’s donations like this that are perfect for the back to school drive.”

The team at Deniliquin Community Hub would like to advise that all items donated must be clean and in good condition.

For hygiene reasons, drink bottles will not be accepted.

The community hub is open on Fridays from 10am to 1pm, but if you can’t make it down during those hours, you can contact Sheridan on the Deniliquin Community Hub Facebook page or call 0459 049 474 to discuss pick-up availability.
