The driver charged over a Pine Lodge crash that killed a Lemnos teenager has faced court for the first time.

Shiva Kumar Jandhyala, 30, of Kialla, is charged with dangerous driving causing death by failing to stop at an intersection, dangerous driving causing serious injury, and careless driving.

Mr Jandhyala was driving a Toyota Camry involved in a collision with a Toyota Aurion and a Mazda wagon at the intersection of New Dookie and Boundary Rds, at about 6.20pm on April 19.

Sixteen-year-old Ruby Crowley of Lemnos, who was a passenger in Mr Jandhyala’s car, sustained serious injuries in the crash and later died in hospital.

Another passenger in the vehicle, Jarrod Stewart, 32, also sustained serious injuries.

Mr Jandhyala also sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The matter lasted only a matter of minutes when it was called in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 6.

Dates were set for the prosecution to give the hand-up brief to Mr Jandhyala’s defence counsel, and a date was set for Mr Jandhyala to next appear in court in September for a committal mention.

The prosecutor asked for longer than usual time for the next court dates so that forensic evidence would be ready.

Mr Jandhyala did not enter any pleas to the charges and was released on bail.
