A driver charged over a fatal crash at Gooram last year has faced court for the first time, after being charged more than nine months after the crash occurred.

Abdul Fatah Faizi, 51, of Shepparton, is charged with dangerous driving causing death, careless driving and driving dangerously.

The charges relate to a crash where the duel-cab ute Mr Faizi was driving left Euroa-Mansfield Rd and went down a 10m embankment near Ridge Rd, about 10.15pm on July 9 last year.

Shepparton man Eid Mohammad Enam Khail, 59, was flown to hospital in a critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

Mr Faizi was charged over the crash on April 27 this year — more than nine months after it occurred.

Mr Faizi’s court appearance at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 6, lasted only a few minutes and no pleas were entered.

Mr Faizi’s bail was extended and he will next appear in court in August for a committal mention.
