Dual state police operation

A man has been arrested after a police operation that involved police on both sides of the border at Echuca-Moama on Thursday, May 16.

Victoria Police officers from Echuca and across the region were part of the police operation, with officers looking for a man who was allegedly a person of interest in several theft cases.

Officers were based on both sides of the two Echuca-Moama bridges in an attempt to apprehend the man.

Police said they wanted to speak to him in relation to alleged theft of a bike and two cars.

The Victoria Police helicopter was also called in to assist with the operation.

About noon, the operation moved into Moama with Victoria Police assisting NSW Police.

NSW Police officers arrested a man during the afternoon.

As of 5pm, he was still in police custody and charges were yet to be laid.
