The Deniliquin High School P&C committee will host its ‘Face the Tee’ Golf Day Fundraiser on Sunday, September 24.
The event is an ambrose competition with teams of four.
Entry is open to players of all abilities, with no handicap requirements and entries accepted for individuals and groups.
Players are asked to arrive at 11am for an 11.30am tee-off.
Entries can be made via the golf club’s website or by calling the golf shop on 5881 3333.
The funds raised through the event will provide important financial assistance for the ongoing delivery of the school’s breakfast program.
The program runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings between 8.15am and 8.50am.
It offers a range of healthy breakfast options free of charge.
Breakfast programs across the state help reduce absenteeism and improve punctuality, engagement, productivity and concentration within the classroom.
At Deniliquin High, the program supports an average of 66 students daily.
Head Teacher of Wellbeing Donna Van Lieshout shared some of the benefits she has witnessed.
“We know that our breakfast program is the only thing some of our students eat in a morning,” she said.
“For others, it gives them something extra in their stomachs after a long bus ride to school.
“Locally, we have seen a vast improvement in pro-social skills, like making general conversation and communicating confidently.
“Many students come for a chat with staff who volunteer to deliver the program.
“This helps build rapport, promotes a sense of belonging and helps facilitate further support-seeking behaviours if required.”
As well as the golf day, the Deniliquin High P&C is also holding a significant raffle with tickets going on sale next week and drawn at the upcoming trivia night to be held Friday, October 20.
While these events are fundraising events, they are also great social opportunities for the school community to get together.
The P&C are extremely grateful to all the local businesses who have supported either or both of these events.
The P&C is a small group of parents, carers and community committed to delivering actions that improve the educational experience at Deniliquin High.
Other school programs supported financially by the P&C include the homework centre, the driver’s education program, travel support for State and National representatives, and assistance in delivering wish list items that allow teachers to respond quickly to the needs of students.
The P&C meets once per month and welcomes any new members.
