Dutch Thunder Wildlife is on a mission to clean up Cobram and is inviting residents to lend a helping hand.

The charity organisation with the support of Parks Victoria and the Moira Shire Council will be holding a Clean Up Australia event on Sunday, March 5 from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

The event will be located along River Rd in Cobram from Scott’s Beach to Thompson’s Beach including the roadside, walking track and the river bank.

A barbecue will also be provided for after the event.

Dutch Thunder Wildlife owner Kylee Donkers said the day was a perfect opportunity to get out and help ensure a pristine environment for future generations.

“This is our opportunity as a community to tackle the country’s and our communities huge waste problems and make a difference in stopping the impact on our beautiful parks, rivers, bushland and affect that it has on the unique wildlife that live there,” Ms Donkers said.

According to Ms Donkers, the clean up event is well attended by local community members.

“We have community groups and families come along and help out on the day and last year ... we picked up a whole ute load full of rubbish.”

She said it could be quite distressing for people to see how much rubbish there was in the environment, but at the same time attendees could get a sense of fulfilment seeing how much waste they remove.

Registration for the event is at 10am on the day.

Clean Up Australia is a non-for-profit organisation set up to help communities clean up, fix up and conserve Australia’s natural environment.

Since its inception 30 years ago more than 20 million Aussies have participated in Clean Up Australia activities and events.
