Early morning assault in Shepparton

Two men were injured in an alleged assault in Shepparton’s central business district early on Sunday morning.

Police said two men were allegedly assaulted in an altercation with another group of men on the intersection of Fryers and Maude Sts, Shepparton, at 3am.

Police said a 19-year-old Shepparton man was taken to hospital where he remains with serious facial injuries.

A 24-year-old Kialla man was also taken to hospital with facial injuries and has since been discharged.

Two men received facial injuries and were taken to Goulburn Valley Health for treatment.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. No arrests have been made as of Monday.

Police believe there was a large number of patrons in the area at the time.
