Echuca SES is opening its doors on Saturday, June 22 so that locals can have a look at the inner-workings of the unit.

From 10am to 2pm, their location at 290 High St, Echuca, will be accessible for residents of all ages to check out.

They will host activities for kids, displays from a range of emergency services, including Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Echuca & Moama Search and Rescue Squad and the Country Fire Authority. There will also be a sausage sizzle and sweet treats like fairy floss and snow cones.

The VICSES crew provided significant assistance to the ADF during the October 2022 flood event in Echuca.

All of the services are looking for more volunteers to support the community, and encourage anyone interested to put their hand up.

Echuca & Moama Search and Rescue Squad treasurer Ian Ritchie highlighted the importance of events such as these to recruit new volunteers looking to do some good in their area.

“It’s important for the community to know what services to contact if they have an accident and need assistance,” he said.

“Like the SES, we are looking for more volunteers to join our squad, we have 15 members at the moment and any extra help would go a long way in helping the people of Echuca-Moama.”

The open day will give future volunteers a chance to ask questions and better understand the different opportunities available in the SES.
