For a limited time the Edward River Library will still have a Share the Dignity collection point, where you can donate feminine products.
Share the Dignity works to make real, on-the-ground differences to those who menstruate and who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, domestic violence or poverty.
The Edward River Library is not only a temporary collection point, it also has a permanent dignity vending machine located in the female toilet.
The dignity vending machine is a world-first innovation that dispenses a free period pack containing six tampons and two pads at the push of a button.
Share the Dignity purchases and supplies the specially made period packs in the vending machines.
Each machine is programmed with a delivery delay of 10 minutes (or three minutes for those in schools) to ensure no period packs are wasted.
Library assistant in charge Peter Papandriopoulous said staff were proud to be able to support such a worthy cause.
“We wanted to get the message out that we have a vending machine located in the library female toilets, so anyone who needs access knows where to go,” he said.
Share the Dignity partners with more than 3,000 charities nationally, helping them to assist those people who desperately need access to period products.
