UPDATE, 1pm, Friday, December 15: Police confirm the death of a man
Police have confirmed they have recovered the body of a man at the scene of an incident involving a boat near the junction of the Goulburn River and Lake Nagambie.
A police operation has been under way since 8.52am today with officers from the water police squad and Seymour SES attending.
The officers boarded a Seymour SES boat at the Nagambie Lakes Regatta Centre boat ramp just before midday before launching in the direction of the incident.
Confirmation came from police a short time after that they had recovered a body.
UPDATE, noon, Friday, December 15: Water police arrive at the scene
Officers from the water police squad have arrived in Nagambie from Melbourne to assist with the incident.
The officers boarded a Seymour SES boat at the Nagambie Lakes Regatta Centre boat ramp just before midday before launching in the direction of the incident.
Police are yet to release publicly more details of the incident they are investigating.
EARLIER, 10.30am: Incident Lake Nagambie
Emergency services are responding to an incident near the junction of Lake Nagambie and the Goulburn River this morning.
The SES said its Seymour unit was assisting police with an incident involving a man and a boat near the Nagambie Lakes Regatta Centre.
Local Victoria Police units are on the scene, and the water police squad is investigating.
The Goulburn River has been closed to water traffic in the area around the incident.
Police have asked people to avoid the area.
