The CFA is urgently warning residents about an out-of-control grass fire at Cowles Rd, Northwood, just north of Seymour, heading towards the Hume Fwy.
Residents on the west side of Northwood Rd are being told it is too late to leave and the safest option is to shelter indoors immediately.
Authorities have urged people to not get in a car and drive, saying it is safer to stay where you are.
Meanwhile, residents on the east side of Northwood Rd are being told to leave now — don’t wait if you are not prepared to stay, leaving now is the best option.
Residents south of Stony Creek and the Hume Fwy, including Seymour residents, are encouraged to stay informed.
