A vehicle was allegedly driven erratically on Saturday afternoon, before coming to a standstill in the middle of a Shepparton street where the driver was arrested by police.

Shepparton police Sergeant Wallis Murnane said officers received reports of a vehicle being driven erratically in the Verney Rd and Ford Rd area about 1.25pm on July 1.

Fifteen minutes later, police found the black Hyundai SUV parked in the middle of the road in Railway Pde, near High St, with the driver still sitting in the driver’s seat, she said.

Police allege the driver was drug affected and there were drugs in the vehicle.

A 22-year-old Shepparton man has been charged with drug driving, possessing methamphetamines, possessing 1,4-butanediol, and possessing alprazolam prescription drug.

He was bailed to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
