Estia Benalla recently recognised R U OK? Day with residents assisting with decorations and discussing the importance of looking after themselves, and one another.

Staff members joined in by wearing something that made them feel happy and made sure they checked in on both residents and each other to ensure that everyone was okay.

An Estia spokesperson said residents completed a word activity and created an extensive list of ways to make their peers feel valued and signals for when they were not so great themselves.

“The residents also learnt the importance of talking to someone and being there for your friends as a result of this day, as well as reinforcing the importance of kindness,” the spokesperson said.

“We followed this day with a visit from Bronwyn from the Older Minds Mental Health program.”
