Euroa Music Festival and Strathbogie Shire FReeZA organisers are on the lookout for the best local talent to take the stage next year.
To find them, they’re hosting their first battle of the bands competition called Out of Nowhere, with the finals to be held the night before this year’s festival kicks off on Friday, November 4.
Euroa Music Festival director Adam Palmer said they were hoping to find the Hume-Goulburn Valley region’s best talent.
“This is an amazing opportunity for young musicians in the Hume-Goulburn Valley region to compete and continue to develop their craft,” he said.
“We’re expecting over 2000 people to visit Euroa over the Euroa Music Festival weekend, so to kick off the weekend with the Out of Nowhere grand final will be a big deal for all involved.”
To be eligible to enter, most of the band members must reside in either Strathbogie Shire or close by regions including Campaspe Shire, City of Greater Shepparton, Greater Bendigo, Mitchell, Murrindini, Mansfield and Benalla.
Competition heats start in August.
Strathbogie Shire Council’s youth development officer Annette Wallton will be part of the team working with the region’s young people and co-ordinating the event.
“The Strathbogie Shire FReeZA crew are really looking forward to co-ordinating and presenting the Out of Nowhere battle of the bands,” she said.
“We have such an exciting youth music program happening across the shire and to connect with young bands from across the region will only enhance it.”
The winner will feature on the Euroa Music Festival’s 2023 line-up and receive a recording, production and mentoring package from Small Time Group in Brunswick, as well as tickets to attend this year’s festival on Saturday, November 5.
All band members must be 25 or older.
