A new tasting trail for the Goulburn Valley will be advertised across the state following its official launch last week.
The food trail, called ‘Seasoned’, promotes the best places to go in the Goulburn Valley for a coffee or wine, to buy fresh produce or discover the tastes of the region.
The trail will be highlighted across the state at visitor centres in a brochure that includes a map with all the different businesses on it.
The trail, as created by Destination Goulburn Valley, features businesses from Dookie, Murchison, Tatura, Mooroopna and Shepparton.
A launch was held on Friday, August 11 at Bill & Beats in Mooroopna.
Destination Goulburn Valley board chair Eugenie Stragalinos said despite the project hitting setbacks such as COVID-19 and last year’s floods, the organisation was happy to see the project finally take flight.
“It had been a passion project for a number of our previous directors,” she said.
“So it’s been a real labour of love for a lot of people and there’s a lot of people that have contributed to this, so it’s great to come in and be able to celebrate it and kick off.”
The Seasoned brochure was created in collaboration with a several organisations and people, such as Rye Studio, the artist Tank and Gunditjmara, Yorta Yorta and Wemba Wemba artist Tom Day.
And alongside Destination Goulburn Valley, it was funded by the Victorian Government’s Artisan Agriculture Program and Greater Shepparton City Council.
Destination Goulburn Valley executive officer Vicki Scott said she hoped the trail would attract locals and visitors alike.
“Our focus is about not only encouraging people within this region to really appreciate what what we have on our own doorstep,” she said.
“But it’s also about encouraging those from outside the region to come in and experience really what community is all about because we do it so well through food, wine, art, culture and coffee.”
The Seasoned map will be distributed to visitor centres across the state and can also be accessed online.
