Hi Bill, where were you born?
I was born in 1944 in what was formerly known as the Belgian Congo (it is now the Democratic Republic of Congo).
Where do you live?
I live in Mooroopna.
Where did you grow up?
All over the place! I lived in the United States, Mexico, Japan, Vietnam and Thailand before coming to Australia.
How did you end up in Shepparton?
I went back to the United States after the Democratic Republic of Congo achieved independence in 1960. When I travelled to Australia, the ‘banter’ immediately made me feel at home. I did a trip around Australia and moved to Tatura first before settling in Mooroopna.
What do you do with yourself?
I was an English teacher before I retired. I now volunteer once a week at Shepparton English Language Centre. All the kids are extremely intelligent and brilliant. I enjoy it.
