What is your name?

My name is Paul Atkinson.

Are you from the Goulburn Valley?

Yes, I am a proud Yorta Yorta man from Shepparton but I now live in Tatura. I moved around the Goulburn Valley a bit before settling in Tatura.

What do you do with yourself?

I wear different hats! I spent 25 years working at the Koori Court, which I really enjoyed because it allowed me to combine my passion for justice with community engagement. I was also involved with the Rumbalara football team. I mostly worked in the farming or construction sectors and was involved in the construction of the SAM museum.

What do you love the most about the Goulburn Valley?

I love it: all my family and friends are here. The Goulburn Valley is a multicultural community and there are many employment opportunities available at the Fruit Bowl.

I’ve never moved away, this is my foundation.

What piece of advice would you give your younger self?

Every experience I’ve lived and the teachings of my grandparents made me the person I am today. I wouldn’t change a thing.
