What is your name?

My name is Suzanne Wallis.

What do you do with yourself?

I am a nurse practitioner.

What is a nurse practitioner?

Nurse practitioners can order pathology, diagnose patients and prescribe treatment.

Are you from the Goulburn Valley?

Not originally! I was born in Williamstown, but my parents are from Benalla. I moved up here for work as there weren’t many opportunities for me to pursue my goal of becoming a nurse practitioner in Melbourne.

What is your favourite thing about the GV?

I love watching the change of seasons in the fields around the valley. Making a difference in the community is truly meaningful to me.

How do you spend your free time?

A couple of years ago, I got a puppy named Abby. She is a Bernese mountain dog, and I've been participating in dog shows with her. I also enjoy gardening.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Have confidence and believe in yourself. If there’s something you want to achieve, go for it and don’t let naysayers stop you.
