It’s back.

Following a successful inaugural event in 2023, the Katamatite Rodeo returns on Saturday, January 6.

The family friendly event will be held at the Muckatah Recreation Reserve on Sandmount Rd, with gates opening at 3.30pm.

The rodeo begins at 6pm and finishes at 10pm and features traditional rodeo events.

Along with the events in the arena, the rodeo will have live music and food and drinks available to purchase.

Kids will be well catered for with the Dookie Lions Club Kids Train, bucking bull and jumping castles.

On-site camping is available and can be organised when buying tickets.

The event will involve many of the community groups and sporting clubs around the area, with funds raised going back into the community.

Last year’s event raised funds to help the Silo Artwork project and the Katamatite Primary School and kindergarten as well as the Katamatite Historical Society and Muckatah Land Care Group among other things.

Katamatite Lions Club member Rob Peachey said last year was a sell-out with 4400 people attending.

Mr Peachey warns those thinking about going that tickets sell out quickly and the number of attendees for the 2024 event has been capped at 4000.

As for those thinking about attending, Mr Peachey said the event was a fantastic opportunity for families to get together.

“We see it as a family event, and we want people to come to this local event and come away having enjoyed themselves and had a good experience,” he said.
