A farmer has urged alleged thieves to bring home a six-week-old camel calf believed to have been taken from a farm in Ardmona this week.
The owner of the farm, Lauren Wallace, said the camel calf had been missing for two days.
Ms Wallace said she suspected the calf had been stolen after an unused gate was found open.
She said baby camels had strong bonds with their mothers, so it was unlikely the calf would have wandered off or left the mother willingly.
She urged the community to report any sightings of the calf to Shepparton police on 5820 5777 as mother camels can die after being separated from their calves.
“Please bring the camel home. The mum’s devastated,” Ms Wallace said.
“She (the mother) is crying. They’re very maternal.”
