The weather couldn’t have been nicer for Echuca Racing Club’s Moama Bowling Club Melbourne Cup Day meet as thousands flocked to the track for a day of fun.
While all eyes were on the track and big screen for a race day jam-packed with action, the club also had something for everyone off the field.
The kids had no qualms being out in the sun as they were busy getting their faces painted and taking part in a range of activities such as jumping castles and inflatable axe throwing.
Meanwhile, the adults were set with a plethora of culinary delights such as food trucks, snack bars and catering options.
No race day is complete without a beverage or two, with numerous fully-stocked bars and hospitality packages to suit everyone.
However, the pinnacle of any race day’s off-field entertainment is the fashions on the field competition, where every participant dressed to impress, with some even walking away with prizes in hand.
Hundreds of fashion hopefuls entered across six categories, but it was only a select few who were crowned best dressed for the day.
Fashions on the field judge Angela Farley reflected on the event and praised the diversity and quality of the competing outfits.
“The quality was really strong this year. It was pleasing to see so many genuine entries,” she said.
“It was a very tough decision in every category, all the little details and everything tied in so well.
“Across the board the standard was very high. It’s great to see a variety of entrants between males, females and kids.
“Fashions on the field is always a good drawcard for any race day and gets everyone involved, not just punters. It brings people together.”
