Fatal crash on Goulburn Valley Highway, Seymour

A man has died after a car struck a tree near the Hume Hwy interchange with the Goulburn Valley Hwy in Seymour early on Thursday morning.

The driver of the sedan was exiting the Hume Hwy turning left onto Goulburn Valley Hwy when he lost control of the vehicle.

It is believed he has over corrected the vehicle after loosing control, leaving the roadway and resulting in the collision with a tree.

The collision caused severe impact to the drivers side of the vehicle.

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene just prior to 6.15am.

The man, who was not a resident of the Seymour area, was driving north towards Shepparton for work.

At this stage there are no witnesses to the incident.
