The heavy fog that hung over Finley golf course last Wednesday did not deter the 76 players in the annual Pink Day.
The 19th annual event was organised again by Joanne Dean, with Micka Littlejohn (Finley Bakery) and Andrew Richardson as major sponsors.
This day came about after Joanne lost her mother to breast cancer, and all funds raised contribute to research into this disease.
As usual, the participants were suitably dressed in pink, however it was great to see the way the male golfers are increasingly embracing the theme.
Father and son, Rodger and Cooper Sutton, were a perfect example. Cooper ended up with a win on the day.
In making the presentations, Joanne thanked everyone involved in the success of the day.
It has raised more than $4000 already, with some donations still being received.
Helen Wastle took out the prize for Best Dressed Lady and Lindsay Donkin was declared Best Dressed Male.
Special thanks were extended to the businesses who contributed in so many ways, sponsoring trophies and raffle prizes.
These included Finley Pharmacy, Finley Post Office, Better Home Living, Daisy Maes, Outdoor and More, Ag Trade, Tuppal Dairy, John Hogan Hardware, IGA, The Three Girls Homewares, BP Service Station, Tocumwal Golf and Bowls Club, Carl’s Catch of the Day, Daniel Families, Haynes Butchers, Eagle I Machinery, Marshall Ag, Pether Ag, Paul ‘Flipper’ Dundon, Marnie Pyle Podiatry, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Finley Quality Meats and Rodger Sutton’s Bobcat Hire.
There were also families who donated prizes in memory of loved ones - Doug Smith and family, Braybon family, Wastle family, Freestone family, Dean family, Lewis family, Mark Ryan and family, Steve Conrick and family, Harris family, Corcoran family and White family.
Special thanks to members of the Finley Lions Club who contributed the ingredients and attended to cooking the barbecue.
Joanne has already started planning for the 2025 event.
