Firefighters and other emergency services attended a fire at a Shepparton business on Monday afternoon.

Shepparton Fire Rescue Victoria acting commander Stephen Lewis said crews were alerted to a fire at Valley Laundrette at around 2.45pm on October 23, after a neighbouring business smelled smoke.

Firefighters had the blaze in the Benalla Rd business under control within 10 minutes.

No-one was in the laundromat ‒ which is also accessible from Archer St via a service road ‒ at the time of the fire.

The laundromat and a neighbouring beauty salon have sustained smoke damage.

Smoke remained visible at the scene for more than an hour after the fire was under control, and firefighters remained in attendance for a significant period of time.

Traffic was still moving on Archer St and Benalla Rd as usual throughout the incident.
