Last week Benalla five-year-old Maddi Hazell cut her hair to be made into a wig for a child living with cancer — as well as donating more than $1500.

The Kids with Cancer Foundation is a charity that runs a fundraiser called Wigs4Kids where youngsters can donate their hair to be made into a wig for a child living with cancer.

They can also be sponsored to take part, which is how Maddi managed to raise $1672 in only nine days.

Maddi’s mum, Maren, said the entire family were incredibly proud of her.

“(We have also) been overwhelmed by the support of our friends and family,” Ms Hazell said.

“One hundred per cent of the money raised goes to families who have a child battling cancer.

“Thank you to Hair by Jess Havlicek hair salon who donated her services for the big chop.”
