For over 40 years, the Goulburn Valley Orchid Club has delighted the community yearly with its autumn Festival of Orchids.

This year will be no different, with the spectacular show returning to Shepparton this Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26, this time with something new to discover.

Alongside beloved annual features such as flower arrangements, raffles, photography and demonstrations, a new arts and crafts competition is poised to flourish.

GV Orchid Club president Chris Ibbotson said she was excited to see what entrants came up within the first year of competition.

An array of exquisite orchids and accessories will be on sale, promising a show that’s nothing short of spectacular.

“While there are many plants on sale, the main feature is the show itself. There will be a variety of orchids on display, from your natives to the more exotic,” Mrs Ibbotson said.

Many expert growers will be present, with advice at the ready.

The GV Orchid Club has over 80 members and is always looking to expand.

“Everybody is welcome to join; you don’t even have to own an orchid. Many people come just to listen to the talks, and it’s a great social thing,” she said.

Held at the Kialla Harness Racing Club, the event will run from 9am to 4pm on Saturday and 10am to 3pm on Sunday, with entry $5.
