The community response to recycling eligible cans and containers since the launch of the Container Deposit Scheme Victoria program at FOOTT Benalla depot has been outstanding.
The program has been instrumental in promoting and helping contribute to environmental conservation efforts in Benalla.
FOOTT chief executive Andrew Yeoland visited the depot last week to chat to customers and team members.
He had enormous praise for the efforts of Benalla and district residents, and their passion for recycling.
“The local community has enthusiastically embraced the program, contributing to its success and at the same time diverting a substantial amount of waste from landfill,” Mr Yeoland said.
“More than 2.8 million containers have been collected since November 1, 2023 at the FOOTT Benalla depot, demonstrating a strong community commitment to sustainability.”
The CDS Vic program enables people to earn 10 cents per eligible container, providing an incentive for recycling and reducing waste.
This program not only helps in keeping the Benalla environment clean but also offers a tangible benefit to the residents of the region.

This innovative App allows individuals to receive digital refunds instantly or pay directly to their bank account.
App users can also choose to donate to charities and local community groups who have registered with CDS Vic.
This has been a huge help to registered groups amplifying the positive impact of the recycling efforts.
