Fr John Corcoran was gifted an orange Mitsubishi ASX GSR SUV from De Maria Motors at his retirement bash at the Italian Club in Cobram on Sunday, December 17.
He was presented with the gift along with fuel and travel vouchers as he prepares to now, quite literally, drive into the sunset.
The farewell party was attended by members of the Cobram community as well as family members who travelled to Cobram specifically for the occasion.
St Joseph’s Catholic Church Cobram finance committee member Rob Morey, who helped organise the gift, said it was fitting considering the services that Fr Corcoran gave to the community.
“We are absolutely delighted to gift Fr Cocoran a car,” he said.
“His service to our parish and indeed the community for the past 33 years has been with care and compassion. He will be sadly missed but leaves us all with wonderful memories.”
