Looking for something fun and meaningful for the kids these school holidays?
Kaiela Arts is offering a series of free workshops designed to spark creativity, encourage self-expression and deepen cultural connections.
Open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 8 to 12 in Greater Shepparton, these hands-on sessions are led by talented Kaiela Arts artists Tarn Parker and Chloe Jones.
Each workshop explores a different creative technique, from clay sculpting to fashion design, offering a chance to learn, connect and create in a supportive space.

Bayaderra (long neck turtle) Clay Workshop
Monday, April 7, 10am to noon
The bayaderra is a significant totem of the Yorta Yorta people, often appearing in creation stories. In this session, participants will shape their own bayaderra using terracotta clay, guided by Tarn Parker.
Painting Workshop
Wednesday, April 9, 10am to noon
This workshop encourages children to explore different painting techniques and develop their own visual storytelling skills through art. Led by Tarn Parker.
Galnyatj Nanyak Dana Art Journal
Friday, April 11, 10am to noon
Galnyatj Nanyak Dana means ‘deadly dreaming path’. In this mixed-media workshop, kids will create a personal art journal to capture their journey, connect with First Nations culture and unleash their inner creativity with Chloe Jones.
Fashion Workshop
Wednesday, April 16, 10am to noon
What we wear can tell a powerful story. In this workshop, attendees will design outfits for a paper doll, exploring how clothing can share knowledge, culture and identity. Led by Tarn Parker.
