Applications are now open for the Victorian Government’s wildlife rehabilitator grants program, which supports wildlife shelters across the state.
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp is encouraging wildlife shelter operators and foster carers across northern Victoria to apply for these grants to support their important work.
Authorised wildlife shelter operators and foster carers can apply for grants of up to $3000 for equipment, infrastructure, consumables, education and training.
Mr Gepp said the grants helped wildlife carers cover the day-to-day costs of running their service, including vet fees and supplies, feed for the animals and enclosures for the wildlife to live in while they were rehabilitated.
“It’s important to acknowledge and support the selfless work of our dedicated wildlife shelter operators and foster carers across the state,” he said.
“Spring marks the start of breeding season and with more animals and especially kangaroos on the move, it’s important that motorists take extra care on the roads. To report a wildlife emergency, call Wildlife Victoria on 8400 7300.”
Applications close at 3.30 pm, October 13.
