With a licence to kiln, Kaye Poulton’s skill on the pottery wheel is no secret to the region.

The ceramic artist has built quite a rapport with community members — hosting Shepparton Art Museum classes, contributing her talent to the Shepparton Festival and featuring her work in prominent rural settings such as Bendigo Pottery and the Whistle Stop Studio Gallery in Echuca.

One location more obscure is a studio tucked away at the back of her Mooroopna home near the Goulburn River.

Here, Ms Poulton passes her intelligence in the clay realm to her eager students.

These sessions are a chance for budding potters to be guided through new artistic techniques, including wheel throwing, trimming and glazing.

On Wednesday, August 2, News photographer Rechelle Zammit dropped by the studio to capture Ms Poulton’s apprentice ceramicists in action.
