Nominations are now open for Gannawarra Shire Council’s annual major community service awards, held next year.

Part of local Australia Day celebrations for over 30 years, the council’s Citizen and Young Person of the Year awards recognise residents who help make the area a great place to live.

Council chief executive Geoff Rollinson said this year’s winners, Jacqueline Hibbert and Fifi White, were selected for their contributions to Gannawarra community groups.

“Our 2024 winners are great examples of residents who demonstrate strong community spirit,” Mr Rollinson said.

“I encourage residents to nominate someone who deserves to receive this prestigious award.”

Nominations for the council’s 2025 Citizen of the Year are open to shire residents aged 25 years and above as of Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Gannawarra residents aged 15 to 24 as of Sunday, January 26, 2025 are eligible to be nominated for the 2025 Young Person of the Year award, with the nomination process updated for this category.

To nominate someone for either award, visit gsc.vic.gov.au/Australia_Day_Awards or collect a nomination form from the council’s customer service centres.
