Gannawarra Shire Council residents have elected a new group of councillors under a new unsubdivided structure for the first time ever.

The seven councillors representing the municipality for the next four years, were announced on Friday, November 8.

The re-elected councillors include former mayors Charlie Gillingham and Ross Stanton as well as Keith Link and Garner Smith.

Joining the four are Daniel Bolitho, Lisa Farrant and Pat Quinn, who will join council for the first time.

Gannawarra Shire chief executive Amanda Wilson said the results mark the beginning of a busy few months for the new council.

“The declaration of results marks the start of a busy four-month period for our elected representatives, who will go through an extensive induction process as outlined in the Local Government Act 2020, elect a Mayor and Deputy Mayor and develop the next edition of our council plan, which will outline what council would like to achieve during the coming four years,” she said.

Ms Wilson said council would like to thank the councillors who were not re-elected for their work.

“Council would like to take this opportunity to thank Kelvin Burt and Jane Ogden, who did not seek re-election, as well as Travis Collier, who was unsuccessful in seeking re-election, for their work during the past four years. We wish them well for the future,” she said.
