With National Ride2Work Day coming up, now is a perfect time to get out your bike and helmet and go for a ride.

Greater Shepparton City Council is encouraging the community to join in on National Ride2Work Day, which will take place on Wednesday, October 18.

The day aims to support and celebrate the many health, wellbeing and environmental benefits that riding offers.

Council’s Manager of Environment Sharon Terry said National Ride2Work Day is an opportunity for local organisations to encourage staff to get involved in the cause.

“Council hope to see plenty of cyclists on the road on Wednesday, October 18, to show their support behind National Ride2Work Day,” she said.

“Businesses can host a morning tea on this day to encourage staff to put on their helmets and cycle to work.

“An estimated 13 per cent of Greater Shepparton’s emissions come from transport so riding your bike to work is an easy and healthy opportunity to save money on fuel and lower your carbon emissions.”
