State Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh says with Victoria’s power bills set to surge as much as 30 per cent, it is important locals take up the latest Power Saving Bonus.

Mr Walsh said the next round of the $250 Power Saving Bonus would open on Friday, March 24, and eligible households, including those that received payments under previous rounds, were encouraged to apply.

He said electricity and gas bills would soar during 2023 and “families, pensioners and small businesses are bracing for much bigger bills”.

“So I urge everyone eligible to take advantage of the Power Saving Bonus,” he said.

“Our costs of living continue to spiral out of control, and a $250 saving can mean the difference between putting food on the table or going hungry in some cases.

“While this is by no means a cure-all for the hip-pocket pain people right across my electorate — and the state — are enduring, it is cash back at a time when people need it most.”

Those who have not yet applied for the current round of the Power Saving Bonus can do so until midnight on Thursday, March 23.
