Two unmissable opportunities are open for emerging artists in the Goulburn Valley.

The 2025 exhibition programs SAM Selects and SAM Spotlight for Shepparton Art Museum’s (SAM) Hugh D. T. Williamson Community Gallery are now taking applications.

SAM Selects invites local artists, curators and community groups to present their original creative projects in the Community Gallery at SAM.

SAM Spotlight offers a paid solo exhibition opportunity for emerging artists in the Goulburn Valley region.

In November 2023 Echuca-based artist Ellen Lee presented ‘Landscape; of sight, of sound’ for her SAM Spotlight exhibition, a selection of large-scale abstract works.

The artist selected for SAM Spotlight develops a body of work over a 12-month period with support from SAM Community Curator Caroline Esbenshade.

“SAM’s Community Gallery is dedicated to showcasing the talent of creatives in the region,” she said.

“For both emerging and established creatives, the opportunities offer a rare chance to exhibit within an art museum context, raising the profile of their work and offering unique professional development opportunities.”

Applications for both programs must be submitted by 11.59pm on August 1, 2024.

The chosen artist for SAM Selects will be on display at the museum from February 23 to May 18, 2025, with the successful SAM Spotlight solo exhibition to follow later in the year, from November 23, 2025 to February 15, 2026.
