Knowing if their child is ready to take that next step can be daunting for parents and carers of children approaching ‘big school’.

Luckily, for parents in the Rose City, help is available.

Tomorrow Today’s Education Benalla Program manager Sally Matheson said its Great Start to School program will address those concerns and help parents and carers prepare their child for prep.

“We’ve been delivering the program since 2013, and in that time, we’ve helped hundreds of Benalla parents to help their children feel more confident and ready to start school,” Ms Matheson said.

“We address things like establishing morning routines, separation anxiety, tips for assisting literacy and numeracy development, and the all-important what to pack in their lunchbox.

“The program includes a range of resources and checklists for families to refer back to.

“The sessions are interactive, and there is time for parents to share their experiences and concerns and get some reassurance for things that might be worrying them.”

The free program is open to parents and carers of children starting school in Benalla and district in 2024.

It consists of two, two-hour sessions held on Friday, November 10 and 17, from 9am to 11am.

Sessions will be held in three locations:

  • Benalla P-12 Avon St campus
  • Benalla P-12 Waller St campus and
  • St Joseph’s Primary School.

To register for the program, contact Ms Matheson at Tomorrow Today on 5762 1211 or via sallymatheson@tomorrowtoday.com.au

Registrations close on November 3.
