Goodbye to Class of 2022

Students walked the silent aisle of the MPC out into the school yard where tears and hugs were the norm and then search for family and friends.

A parade of sincere speeches sang the HSC students’ praises at Deni High School’s Year 12 final assembly on Wednesday, reflecting their six years of schooling.

Sniffles and laughter from the front rows occupied by the outgoing students signified an equally sincere response.

Year 12 year advisor Mandi Hatton called the final roll and gave a heartfelt address wishing her group all the best for their future.

She also thanked them for their time spent together over the last six years, this again drew tears of memories past and a finality to their secondary years.

Students Remy Muirhead and Brodie Flight delivered a humorous speech of years gone by and the moments that stood out along their schooling journey.

Amid hair dyes, rolling up to school late and more mischievous tales, one story which caused a particularly explosive eruption of laughter was Tom McCallum’s endless quest for lunch money that lasted from Year 7 to his final days.

While days in the school room are over for the Year 12s, the work is not yet over.

HSC exams will begin from October 12, and run through until November 4 depending on subjects taken.

Results are expected to be released on December 15.
