GOTAFE welcomed over 800 people to its open day events in August, showcasing career-advancing opportunities through immersive tours, meetings with industry experts, and hands-on activities designed to inspire prospective students of all ages.
GOTAFE’s final open day in Shepparton on Saturday, August 24 at the Fryers St Campus enabled community members to discover vocational education pathways available locally.
Open days earlier in August included the Wallis St Campus in Seymour on Saturday, August 10 and the Docker St Campus in Wangaratta on Sunday, August 18, offering tailored guidance for various career paths.
Executive Director of Student Experience Laura Baker expressed her enthusiasm about the diverse range of attendees at GOTAFE's Open Days, noting the palpable sense of excitement and opportunity in the air.
“We welcomed over 800 people to our campuses across the three open days, showing the strong community interest in pursuing vocational education and training,” she said.
“For community members who were unable to attend, we want them to know every day is an open day at GOTAFE and you are always welcome to drop in, give us a call or visit our website.”
Open day attendees gained valuable insights into GOTAFE's flexible study options, with industry-experienced Trainers and Careers Advisors detailing various education and career pathways available through both on-campus and online learning modes.
Several interactive tours were led by GOTAFE’s attraction staff during the day, providing attendees an opportunity to see first-hand the facilities and equipment and discover aspects of student and campus life.
Prospective students had the opportunity to chat with successful GOTAFE alumni, including Jono Chan, Commercial Cookery graduate and co-owner of the popular Elsewhere at SAM, gaining authentic insights into the transformative GOTAFE experience.
“It was great to meet so many community members looking to take the next step in their education or career journey,” Jono said.
The Ovens and Murray Football Netball League and Goulburn Valley League added a sporty flavour to the Wangaratta and Shepparton Open Days, hosting interactive marquees and exciting handball competitions for attendees of all ages and skill levels.
The Shepparton Open Day was held in partnership with La Trobe University, providing access to additional education and career pathways for all attendees aspiring to make a change.
