In a bid to increase customer engagement, Goulburn-Murray Water has announced plans to introduce seven new customer committees across northern Victoria.
The move comes as a response to the challenges in attracting members to the existing water service committees, which have been pivotal in connecting G-MW with its customers for many years.
G-MW managing director Charmaine Quick noted that the landscape had evolved significantly.
“In recent years, it has been harder to attract and keep committee members, and there have been significant changes to our irrigation network, customer demographics and the services we provide,” she said.
“It is important G-MW adapts how it engages with its customers to reflect these changes.”
After discussions began in late 2023, G-MW’s board approved the new committee model on October 23, designed to be collaborative and strategic while accommodating members’ busy schedules.
The new committees will align with G-MW’s services and replace water service committees.
“I greatly appreciate the contributions of the members across our WSCs, and for the time they have committed to representing our customers and for the sound feedback they have provided,” Ms Quick said.
“We look forward to working with our customers through the new committees in the future.”
The newly established customer committees will include:
- G-MW GMID Customer Committee – East
- G-MW GMID Customer Committee – Central
- G-MW GMID Customer Committee – West
- G-MW Diversions Customer Committee
- G-MW Pumped Districts Customer Committee
- G-MW Water Districts Customer Committee
- G-MW Loch Garry Customer Committee (to be launched post-Loch Garry Future Service Strategy).
Expressions of interest for the customer committees will be accepted starting in January 2025.
