A woman who had Molotov cocktails thrown at her home last month fears it could be attacked again.

Police said two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the front door of the Katandra home about 6am on May 24.

Tests are being done by police to determine what the alight substance inside the glass bottles was.

The woman and her husband were inside the home at the time, and the woman said one of the Molotov cocktails was thrown directly at her as she stood in a window to see what was happening outside.

She had noticed the first one being thrown when she saw a “flash of light” from her bedroom window.

The woman described the experience as “like being in a war zone”.

She was thankful she was up early that morning — something that was unusual for her — and she was able to stop the fire on her front porch started by the Molotov cocktails.

“I’ve never had anything shake me like this,” she said.

“Had we been asleep, I don’t think we’d be alive.

“To walk through the front door, your house is on fire, there is broken glass, and you are putting fire out with your bare hands and feet.

“It was like being in a war zone.”

The woman said the outside of her house caught fire from the front door to the bedroom door.

Patio furniture and mats on the front porch were also alight.

“It caused a fair few thousands of dollars worth of damage,” the woman said.

“I keep seeing what happened over and over.

“Never in my wildest dreams could I have dreamed this would happen.

“You get insurance in case you have a fire or theft, but not because someone tries to burn your house down.”

The woman said since the attack she had had trouble sleeping, and she wanted the people who did it caught.

“I want people to be angry that this could happen here,” she said.

“I urge people to act if they can.”
